Berlins’ leisure time spots you should see in summer

Sports, Picnic and BBQ

Ad| Berlin is quite a green city and offers many squares and parks in summer to be outside. One of Berlins’ leisure time spots is a place, where you can combine sports, relaxation and food. It is called Tempelhofer Feld – and is one of Berlin’s former airports. On the  greened areas, you can enjoy your prepared bbqs or picnics. Alternatively, Picnic Berlin offers picnic baskets with snacks, salads, sandwiches and drinks of your choice.

On what used to be the former landing strip, you can now go biking, inline-skating, hang-gliding or whatever else you fancy doing outdoors.

Cruising around Berlin

Rent your own boat and discover Berlins’ leisure time spots around the city. ALS offers nice motorboats which you can drive without a license. Bring your own food and drinks, turn on the music and enjoy a day trip across the lakeside. Starting in Köpenick you cross the Müggelsee, aka “new Venice” with its many bungalows and canals, Seddinsee and the river Dahme. Meanwhile you can anchor and swim or stop for a bite at any of the numerous imbiss or restaurants which you find along the way.

Swimming between cultural monuments

At Heiligen See in Potsdam you can have it all. The Neue Garten, a park with monuments and buildings from the era of Frederic the Great, as well as  a connection to the Havel on its other side make the Heiligen See to one of the most beautiful bathing lakes outside of Berlin.
