RARA ATELIER – leather bags from Istanbul

Ad| In 2013, Rara ATELIER was founded by Dilan Bozdag in Istanbul. I met Dilan and her RARA leather bags at the Mipel bag show in Milan a few weeks ago. Now I want to introduce you to her and her handbag brand.

Dilan, you studied psychology. How did you come to design leather bags?

I was always interested in psychology and I still am… However, starting my own business was also my dream and I had to make a decision. Since my family has a leather company, there sure was a tendency to do something related to my family’s business. Additionally, I realized the trade gap in Turkey in place for local designer brands. Eventually, I have decided to create my own brand and started to design bags.

How do you benefit from your family’s background?

From my childhood on, I have witnessed every step of leather production and experienced working atmosphere of leather atelier closely. This enabled me to recognize the material and to appreciate its quality. My father was a great help for me in the process of starting my own business. Taken together, I should say that I have benefited from my family background in the best way possible.

Please tell us more about your current handbag collection.

Our new collection has a functional, minimalistic design, at the same time as it is chic as usual and its colours stand out!

Which bag is your favourite one and why?

Lots of them…:) At these days, my favourite models are Swan, Cara and Dove series. Because you could use them day and night!
